EXPLORE ELEGANCE AND WARMTH WITH KEILHAUER’S NEW PONDER AND AWLA SERIES
NEW TABLES AND SEATS CREATE RELAXED HEADS UP ENVIRONMENTS

December 13, 2017 (Toronto) – Keilhauer’s new line of standing height tables, Awla, and an expansive new collection of seating, Ponder, create thought provoking, public environments that encourage the exchange of ideas. Suitable for lounges, meeting rooms, cafeterias and breakout spaces, the Ponder Collection and Awla demonstrate Keilhauer’s continued dedication to supporting heads up work spaces while nodding to the industry-shift towards residentially styled workplaces.

Ponder and Awla can each be specified to suit any number of projects and complement various design schemes; however, they work in perfect proportion with each other. Both feature hardwood and steel elements, and a transparently communicated design that looks beautiful from every angle. “Though they speak the same language of design, they don’t repeat their expression - they might be seen as siblings, not twins,” says Mike Keilhauer, President of Keilhauer.

The beautiful wood features of Ponder and Awla make them very much of-the-moment, but their modern, clean design provides them with a longevity that will continue to feel current for years to come. “Wood provides a connection with nature that makes people feel comfortable, relaxed, welcomed. This is precisely the feeling that designers aim to convey when creating collaborative works areas.” explains Keilhauer “It’s for this reason that we’ve seen such a resurgence of interest in wood, and why we wanted the new Ponder and Awla to showcase the material’s elegance and warmth.”

Awla

Designed for Keilhauer by the Austrian trio EOOS, Awla (OWL-A) is a line of standing-height tables with a sleek table top, solid walnut or ash wood legs, and steel brackets and foot-rest. Available in counter and bar heights each table can comfortably be used as a shared workspace, dining bar, or community hub.

Awla is in-part inspired by the raw honesty of industrial design; however, the combination of EOOS’ design sensibility and Keilhauer’s innovative engineering added refinement and modernity to the table’s design. “The structural idea of Awla is 360 degrees of visibility and honesty. It’s construction and design is transparent. There is a balance of lines and planes, and a glimpse of all its materials from every angle,” says Martin Bergmann from EOOS.

One innovative feature of the Awla tables is the invisible wire management system and graphic power inputs. To keep a clean table top without cuts, the power was shifted to the front and side bars in a way that intentionally adds to table’s character. “We loved the clean, quiet uninterrupted plane of the table top,” explains Bergmann. “So we found a graphic way to introduce the power. To us, this power connection is the face of Awla.”

Both the counter and bar height tables are available in three sizes with optional power: 48” square, 30”x 60” and 30”x 90”. Awla can be made using solid walnut or ash wood with 10 color choices of stain and/or with three standard table top options. For full details, please visit: www.keilhauer.com/products/Awla.html

Something to Ponder About

Ponder was originally introduced at NeoCon 2017 as part of the award winning Hangout Collection. Driven by both customer interest and a lingering fascination by its designers, EOOS, the original high and low back lounge seats have been expanded into a large collection of seating options ranging from stools, to side chairs and ottomans.

“The main idea behind Ponder is the flow. From every angle, the lines continue without interruption. These lines, combined with restrained and effective proportions are what give Ponder character and makes it such an inviting seat,” says Gernot Bohmann of EOOS. “But they also make an unbelievably light chair that can be moved and carried everywhere you communicate.”

The full Ponder collection boasts 20 models of seating options that include side and lounge chairs, stools, and an ottoman. Base options include sled base, 4-star, 5-star, or 4-leg in steel or wood. The variety of models, base options, and finishes such as bronze, black, white, wood or chrome, completely transform the chair from modern and sleek, to contemporary and playful, or classic mid-century.
